The Rotary Club of Taree on Manning, in partnership with Taree Universities Campus (TUC), is working to break down the barriers that prevent students in regional NSW from accessing and succeeding in tertiary education. This is a community-driven project designed to support individuals at any age who face barriers to education. The students who are supported are from indigenous community backgrounds, low socio-economic backgrounds, and experiencing generational disadvantage. They feel socially isolated, lack confidence, and face financial hardship, regional isolation, and social disadvantage. The initiative supports students in the Mid Coast LGA and surrounds by improving access to tertiary education, building confidence, and creating meaningful employment pathways. These students rely on TUC as a safe, inclusive community hub to visit for study, support, and community connection.
