Project Name:
The Men's Health Education Rural Van (MHERV) NSW (RABS)
Country:
Australia
Description:
The Rotary Club of Warners Bay owns and operates the MHERV project with a mobile health unit which travels the backroads of NSW with a Registered Nurse offering free health screenings to those in remote, rural and regional and communities of New South Wales. It is recognised that there is a need in remote, rural and regional communities for people, and men in particular to have regular health checks.
The service is provided to communities where GP's and other medical services are difficult to access or just not available. The service has already identified over 500 people whose lives were almost lost or who would have become permanently incapacitated. During visits, MHERV also educates people about the danger of not having regular checkups. The project funds are necessary to maintain the mobile facility, to supply a Registered Nurse and to purchase expensive medical consumables.
Tax Deductibility:
Rotary Australia Benevolent Society (Managed by RAWCS) has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) registration and has been listed as a Charitable Fund so we can accept tax deductible Donations from individuals or organisations.
